Hayley’s Day Spa was inspired by Hayley, our very own Cocker Spaniel family member of 12 years. After enduring an online-ordered grooming kit during the pandemic, she was tired of being teased by her friends in Forest Hills and Fire Island for her uneven, very... creative haircuts. She knew that, as soon as this lockdown thing was done, she wanted her own place to get a proper pampering and a fresh Cocker cut.

Throughout the lockdown, however, our family found joy in bonding over Hayley’s grooming ritual every few weeks. We clearly had underestimated all the great services we rely on other people/professionals for. As businesses continued to shutter, and with no end in sight, Hayley kept us sane with at least some remnants of what had previously been our bustling Forest Hills life. She always made sure to take us out for long walks and fresh air. 

Every day we watched our friends' businesses shutter, and every week our community saw more and more businesses close their doors. Meeting others with furry family members during this time meant so much to us and our connection to humans and animals alike.

We wanted to find a way to honor what became a lifeline for us and to also fill a need we saw within the community (Hayley waited patiently for an appointment for weeks with no luck). After a storefront opened on busy Austin Street, we decided to take matters into our own hands and open a business that would be beneficial to both our furry friends and our neighbors. Now, Hayley is regularly pampered at her own proper spa; all she needs is her friends to join her for a clean, relaxing spa day!
